Challenge to province's Bradford plan
Campaign Lake Simcoe strongly objects to provincial government plans to create a major urban area in Bradford.
"Opening up a new frontier of major urbanization in south Simcoe threatens a drastic shift in the urban structure of the Greater Golden Horseshoe," says Claire Malcolmson, who coordinates Campaign Lake Simcoe for Environmental Defence, in a news release. "This has tremendous implications, not only on Lake Simcoe, but on our agricultural resources, our transportation plans and infrastructure, and related planning initiatives occurring in the GTA and whitebelt."
While the province is consulting the public on its recently released Simcoe Area Strategy, she says, the Bradford projects have been approved quickly and quietly, completely outside of the normal public consultation process.
