2020 01 14 scottieHow much do our volunteers love our cats? Here's one of several cartoons that was drawn by Furry Friends Animal Shelter volunteer Serena of some of the long-time residents at the animal rescue centre in Barrie.

As a stray, Scottie wasn’t dealt the best luck right from the beginning. He lived outside from the day he was born and he, like all strays, had to fight to survive.

Thankfully, Scottie had compassionate people on his side looking out for him who would provide food, but nobody was able to coax him inside for a long time.

Finally, a kind woman was able to trap and place Scottie into a cat crate for safe keeping while she worked to find him a place to go, and that’s how Scottie eventually became a part of Furry Friends.

To say that Scottie was unimpressed when he arrived would be an understatement. Many of our volunteers tried to tame this grouchy boy, but nothing he ever did was out of aggression. Scottie was terrified, plain and simple. He was in a new place, with new people, and way too many new sights and smells for his liking.

It has taken two years and a lot of perseverance, but Scottie is happier than he’s ever been, and he’s even turned into quite the cuddly fellow!

Despite Scottie’s perpetually grumpy face, he loves people and will rub against your legs at any opportunity.
We hope that eventually the perfect human will meet Scottie, and the rest will be history!
