Sweet dog has been adopted

UPDATE (Feb. 19, 2019) Lugnut has been adopted! Have a great life, sweet dog!

Lugnut has travelled a long way to find a new home. This loveable dog was one of 27 dogs that were flown from Cat Lake First Nation, located approximately 300 kilometres north of Kenora, to find new homes through the Ontario SPCA’s Support the North campaign.

Lugnut arrived at the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre in Stouffville on Dec. 15 and has been patiently waiting for a home. This handsome boy is an approximately five-year-old mixed-breed dog who is fixed, microchipped and vaccinated. He loves people, but would prefer to be the only dog in your home.

Lugnut is currently suffering from glaucoma, which explains the twinkle in this right eye. In remote Northern communities, resources and access to animal wellness services, such as veterinarians and spay/neuter services, are often limited. As a result, Lugnut didn’t have access to veterinarians to treat his condition.

Lugnut is available for foster-to-adopt as he undergoes further treatment on his eye. Why not give him the home he deserves?

To learn more about how to foster to adopt Lugnut or other animals at the Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre in Stouffville, visit or call 905-898-7122, ext. 306.

Support the North is aimed at bringing awareness, attention and action to the serious issue of dog overpopulation in the North and a lack of animal wellness resources in Northern communities. The Ontario SPCA and its partners have developed a network of individuals, organizations and communities united in creating healthy communities for animals and people. To learn more about how you can get involved, visit
