Aug. 8 to 11 – Boots & Hearts 2019. Boots and Hearts is an annual country and camping music festival event produced by Republic Live. Held at the custom designed camping and festival grounds at Burl’s Creek, the festival will take place August 8-11, 2019. Boots and Hearts is the recipient of the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Association) Festival of the Year Award in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 and Canadian Music Week 2015 Festival of the Year.

Boots and Hearts is the largest camping and country music festival of its kind ever to be hosted on Canadian soil. It is a four-day celebration of country music where music lovers of all genres can escape from the rigours of daily life, band together with thousands of other country music fans and experience a once-in-a-lifetime event that they will never forget.

We live out our motto. Work Hard. Play Harder. From Payment Plans, to Kids 12 & Under Free admittance, we do our best to make Boots and Hearts as accessible as possible to our fans. We hope that you’ll join us this year to experience what Boots and Hearts is all about.

Aug. 9 to 11 — Orillia Waterfront Festival. A weekend of fun activities and entertainment at the beautiful Port of Orillia and waterfront parks, Lake Couchiching, Orillia.

The Orillia Waterfront Festival in-water boat show features new, dealer trade, select brokerage and private owner boats, and includes everything from kayaks to cruisers. Over 100 land vendors and exhibitors offer boating accessories, water sport equipment, cottage and outdoor products, great summer fashions, good food and more. Art exhibits, dog agility trials, Dock Dogs Diving Contest,exciting water ski shows throughout the weekend.

Hilarious Cardboard Boat Race Sunday at Noon.

An average of 8,000-12,000 people attend the festival each year depending on weather conditions.

Brock’s Big Bite

Aug. 10 — Brock’s Big Bite, A Festival of Food and Friends. Brock’s Big Bite is serving up another great menu of food and fun for the whole family at the ninth annual community festival. Circle Saturday August 10th on your calendar now.  Our 2019 location is Downtown Beaverton with plenty of room for activities and exhibits.  And there is still no admission fee. Join neighbours, friends and the Beaverton community from 10am to 4pm for a family-friendly celebration filled with activities for all ages… plenty to see, hear, experience and taste.  

The traditional ‘long lunch’ prepared by volunteer chefs from local business and community organizations will feature fresh local food.  The meal will be served from 12 pm to 2 pm advance ticket purchase is recommended.  See our EATS page for menu details.  Tickets will be available online through our TICKETS page as well as from a variety of Brock businesses. 

Brock’s Big Bite is proud to be a ‘green’ festival, featuring a water bottle refill station to keep festival guests hydrated, and compostable dinnerware to reduce our waste footprint.

The imagination and inspiration of local artists expressed through a variety of media is one of the festival features you won’t want to miss.  The artists will be joined in the vendor marketplace by local artisans ready to entice you with goods that they have grown, baked or created.

Carrot Fest: Bradford West Gwillimbury’s biggest event of the year!

Aug. 16 and 17 — Are you ready to experience one of the best street festivals in Ontario? The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury’s annual Carrot Fest is coming up on August 16-18 in downtown Bradford, featuring a vendor market, free outdoor entertainment, live music, food vendors and more.

On Friday, come support your local businesses at the vendor market, enjoy musical entertainment and check out the Classic Car show.

On Saturday, explore more than 200 vendors lining the streets downtown. Return to the days of child-like wonder with entertainment everywhere you look, including aerial performers, stilt walkers, fire and magic shows and BMX stunt tricks.

Kids have endless options for fun. On both Friday and Saturday, the Kids Zone will be filled with inflatables and games with balloon twisting and juggling shows, with carrot arts and crafts on Friday evening. On Saturday, kids can also try out pony rides, face painting, henna tattoos, lots of entertainment at two Busker Pitches, and an ice cream eating contest with 3 Scoops.

The Main Stage will feature live musical performances, including Big Shiny ‘90s (‘90s alternative rock cover band), Coming of Age (classic rock), and Monkey Wrench (Foo Fighters tribute). Along with free live music, Carrot Fest offers a variety of delicious food from Liko’s Hawaiian barbecue and Mister Treats ice cream, as well as local food businesses like Kensington burgers, La Mexicanada and Sweet B’s desserts.

Carrot Fest started more than 20 years ago and celebrates BWG’s agricultural roots. The Holland Marsh Growers’ Association will once again be handing out free bags of locally grown carrots.

The festival is located outdoors along Holland St., Barrie St. and Simcoe Rd, and several events will also be held at the Bradford & District Memorial Community Centre at 125 Simcoe Rd., including Aqua Dogs, pony rides and wrestling shows. BWG Transit will be offering free bus service on Saturday for Carrot Fest, with free parking available at the BWG Leisure Centre and Bradford GO station.

2019 Rama Powwow

Aug. 23 to 25 — 2019 Rama Powwow. All are welcome at the 33rd Annual Rama Powwow on August 23-25, 2019 at the John Snake Memorial Multipurpose Grounds in Rama, Ontario, Canada. Witness some of Turtle Island’s finest World-Class singers and powwow dancers as they compete against one another in this competition powwow which has become one of the biggest and best powwows in Ontario. Dozens of vendors (food, arts, and crafts). Over the years, Rama First Nation has witnessed an expediential growth of the powwow, which was once mainly a small event where about a dozen community veterans would attend along with guests from Walpole, Wiky, Sarnia, and even Milwaukee. Now a competition powwow, the event has grown substantially, hosting between 3,000 – 5,000 visitors each year. We are gratified to have so many guests visit Rama to partake in the event which has been part of the community’s culture for several decades and continues to evolve. This is a great family event, open to all. Come and learn about our beautiful First Nations culture and history. $10 day, $15 weekend. Kids under 12, veterans, seniors, or disabled individuals get in for free.

Chippewas of Rama First Nation have been hosting powwows since 1986 at the beautiful John Snake Memorial Multipurpose Grounds on the territory of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Had it not been for the indomitable will of a few individuals in the 1970’s, we would not be celebrating so many years of powwow at the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Pleae keep in mind that the Rama Powwow is a family-friendly event. No pets, alcohol, or drugs are permitted onsite.

Since our 2003 inaugural year the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival has raised over $1.85 million for a variety of local charities including supporting Barrie Public Library.We are so proud of the Library’s role in bringing this bounty to our community. The coming together and support of our civic leaders, governments, businesses, sponsors, donors, volunteers and various organizations is imperative to the continued success of the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival.

Paddling together in harmony enriches the quality of life for the citizens of Barrie.

The Barrie Dragon Boat Festival is located at Heritage Park in Barrie, off of Simcoe Street, and to the east of the City of Barrie landmark, the Spirit Catcher.
