This year, 2017, we celebrate the craft of quilting with a Sesquicentennial Quilt Show and Sale. We are combining our Quilt Shows of the past with our Quilt Sales held more recently, and adding lots of Sesquicentennial flavour. The Sanctuary at Westmount will come alive with a huge display of quilts, artfully showcased on the church pews. The large stage area will feature quilts made to honour Canada’s 150th birthday, as well as art created in other mediums for this celebration. Our library area will reflect Orillia’s history since Orillia as a city shares this special birthday with Canada. As we are looking back at our past, the lounge will be arrayed in vintage and antique quilts, portraying the beauty of quilts made by our ancestors. Downstairs, there will be a very large sale of quilts, quilted and sewn items, some of them made specifically to reflect this 150th birthday. Displays will be enhanced by items of Canadiana portraying things pertinent to Canada – our history, our animals, our tartan, our flag, our Centennial year, and things uniquely Canadian. There will be more than 300 quilts available for your viewing pleasure (some of them for sale). Check out our facebook page at Sesquicentennial Quilt Show and Sale, and also our Facebook event site at Sesquicentennial Quilt Show and Sale Orillia to invite your friends. $6.00
