June 4 to Sept. 25
‘Artifact’ Photography Exhibition And Vintage (Pre-Digital) Camera And Memorabilia Display
Sponsored by the North Durham Photographers Association (NDPA) and the Uxbridge Arts Association (UAA).
The North Durham Photographers Association, in collaboration with the Uxbridge Arts Association, is pleased to invite the public to view the ‘ARTifacts’ photo exhibition. This exhibit is available for viewing during the Centre’s open hours.
The NDPA is a group of 20 members who meet monthly on the museum grounds and have organized the ‘ARTifacts’ exhibition. The purpose of this exhibit is to provide an artistic perspective of historical objects in the Centre’s collection. The photography provides viewers with new insight and perspective by highlighting unique shapes, colours, and unnoticed details, showcasing the objects in a new and interesting light.
The exhibit is enhanced by a collection of vintage cameras, books and memorabilia representing the last 100 years of pre-digital photography. Early roll film and plate cameras are on display alongside turn-of-the-century Kodak folding cameras, 4” x 5” press cameras, and an assortment of 35 mm cameras that have been widely used since the 1940’s. The darkroom portion of the exhibit illustrates the procedures and apparatus for paper and film processing.
On display at Uxbridge Historical Centre (Museum and Archives). Opening Reception: July 14, 7pm. Uxbridge Historical Centre is located at 7239 Concession 6, Uxbridge. The Centre is open for tours June 4 - Sept. 25, 10am - 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday (closed on holidays).
