This exhibition links art practice and scientific research exploring the eco-systems of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, to generate greater understanding of water quality issues. Current scientific research taking place at Lakehead University, Orillia Campus has been the catalyst for this group exhibition of selected participants who have been given references to academic research to develop their creative response utilizing and exploring new media as well as traditional methods of art making.

The artists involved in this project are:
Travis Shilling, Joanna McEwen, Peter McEwen, Peter Miehm, Sarah Uffelman, Heather Driver Kerslake, Luci Dilkus, Roger Kerslake, Karen Wild, Tanya Cunnington, Bewabon Shilling and Jennie Clark.

Simcoe Watershed Art Project is a collaborative visual arts project with an environmental theme created to involve regional artists in the expression and documentation of the wonders within the Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching watersheds.

“It is our goal to encourage members of the community at large and the environmental research communities to realize the potential of visual art to communicate environmental concerns. Beyond recreational purposes, the watershed and the quality of water it processes are essential to life.”

This exhibition links art practice and scientific research exploring the eco-systems of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, to generate greater understanding of water quality issues. Current scientific research taking place at Lakehead University, Orillia Campus has been the catalyst for this group exhibition of selected participants who have been given references to academic research to develop their creative response utilizing and exploring new media as well as traditional methods of art making.

The artists involved in this project are:
Travis Shilling, Joanna McEwen, Peter McEwen, Peter Miehm, Sarah Uffelman, Heather Driver Kerslake, Luci Dilkus, Roger Kerslake, Karen Wild, Tanya Cunnington, Bewabon Shilling and Jennie Clark.

Simcoe Watershed Art Project is a collaborative visual arts project with an environmental theme created to involve regional artists in the expression and documentation of the wonders within the Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching watersheds.

“It is our goal to encourage members of the community at large and the environmental research communities to realize the potential of visual art to communicate environmental concerns. Beyond recreational purposes, the watershed and the quality of water it processes are essential to life.”

This exhibition links art practice and scientific research exploring the eco-systems of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, to generate greater understanding of water quality issues. Current scientific research taking place at Lakehead University, Orillia Campus has been the catalyst for this group exhibition of selected participants who have been given references to academic research to develop their creative response utilizing and exploring new media as well as traditional methods of art making.

The artists involved in this project are:
Travis Shilling, Joanna McEwen, Peter McEwen, Peter Miehm, Sarah Uffelman, Heather Driver Kerslake, Luci Dilkus, Roger Kerslake, Karen Wild, Tanya Cunnington, Bewabon Shilling and Jennie Clark.

Simcoe Watershed Art Project is a collaborative visual arts project with an environmental theme created to involve regional artists in the expression and documentation of the wonders within the Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching watersheds.

39th Annual Marsh Mash

39th Annual Marsh Mash returns to BWG

Marsh Mash, known as the fourth oldest Marathon Canoe Race in Ontario, will take place in Bradford West Gwillimbury on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Participants can register online at www.marshmash.ca or in person on event day. Registration will open at 8:00am at Springdale Christian Reformed Church (at the corner of Sideroad 5 and Canal Road) with the races starting at 10:00am.  

The race attracts Canoeists, Kayakers, Stand Up Paddleboarders and Outrigger Paddlers from all over the province. There are a number of classes and choices of race distances.


The Canal, which surrounds the Holland Marsh, provides one of the best canoe racing courses in Ontario. There are classes for paddlers with very little canoe racing experience, and there are classes for very competitive paddlers. 

The race continues to operate in partnership with Iain Craig and his family, and the BWG Community Services Department. The event is sanctioned by the Ontario Marathon Canoe and Kayak Racing Association (OMCKRA) and is a World Team Qualifier for the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships.

On the quieter side of the fairgrounds one would find the more agricultural endeavours which are the namesake for this wide-ranging celebration. This exhibition links art practice and scientific research exploring the eco-systems of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, to generate greater understanding of water quality issues. Current scientific research taking place at Lakehead University, Orillia Campus has been the catalyst for this group exhibition of selected participants who have been given references to academic research to develop their creative response utilizing and exploring new media as well as traditional methods of art making.

The artists involved in this project are:
Travis Shilling, Joanna McEwen, Peter McEwen, Peter Miehm, Sarah Uffelman, Heather Driver Kerslake, Luci Dilkus, Roger Kerslake, Karen Wild, Tanya Cunnington, Bewabon Shilling and Jennie Clark.

Simcoe Watershed Art Project is a collaborative visual arts project with an environmental theme created to involve regional artists in the expression and documentation of the wonders within the Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching watersheds.

“It is our goal to encourage members of the community at large and the environmental research communities to realize the potential of visual art to communicate environmental concerns. Beyond recreational purposes, the watershed and the quality of water it processes are essential to life.”

‘Artifact’ Photography Exhibition And Vintage (Pre-Digital) Camera And Memorabilia Display
Sponsored by the North Durham Photographers Association (NDPA) and the Uxbridge Arts Association (UAA).
The North Durham Photographers Association, in collaboration with the Uxbridge Arts Association, is pleased to invite the public to view the ‘ARTifacts’ photo exhibition. This exhibit is available for viewing during the Centre’s open hours.
The NDPA is a group of 20 members who meet monthly on the museum grounds and have organized the ‘ARTifacts’ exhibition. The purpose of this exhibit is to provide an artistic perspective of historical objects in the Centre’s collection. The photography provides viewers with new insight and perspective by highlighting unique shapes, colours, and unnoticed details, showcasing the objects in a new and interesting light.
The exhibit is enhanced by a collection of vintage cameras, books and memorabilia representing the last 100 years of pre-digital photography. Early roll film and plate cameras are on display alongside turn-of-the-century Kodak folding cameras, 4” x 5” press cameras, and an assortment of 35 mm cameras that have been widely used since the 1940’s. The darkroom portion of the exhibit illustrates the procedures and apparatus for paper and film processing.
On display at Uxbridge Historical Centre (Museum and Archives). Opening Reception: July 14, 7pm. Uxbridge Historical Centre is located at 7239 Concession 6, Uxbridge. The Centre is open for tours June 4 - Sept. 25, 10am - 4pm, Wednesday to Sunday (closed on holidays).
