The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a special nature event called a BioBlitz at Sheppard’s Bush this year! A BioBlitz is a full day event to explore, identify, and learn about the many animal and plants that call Sheppard’s Bush home. At last year’s BioBlitz event in Bradford, through the help of participants like you, we were able to identify more than 400 species. As this is the first year for a BioBlitz in Aurora, we’re not sure what we’ll find! Make sure to join us for this day of outdoor discovery and fun.
Date: Saturday June 17, 2017
Time: 5:00 am - dusk
Come for a part of the day or the entire event. See the detailed schedule below.
Location: Sheppard’s Bush Conservation Area, Main parking lot off of Industry Street south of Mary Street, Aurora, Ontario
How a BioBlitz works is that ecology experts, nature enthusiasts and members of the community come together to explore, learn about and inventory as many species as we can spot on the property. Are you a nature novice with little species identification experience? No problem! Participate alongside more seasoned volunteers and learn something new.
Looking for an outdoor Saturday activity for your family? A BioBlitz is a unique event that gets kids outside, nature sleuthing, and seeing nature professionals in action. There are drop in wildlife games just for them. We guarantee an educational and interactive day for all ages!
All sessions are free, and a complimentary lunch and dinner are also included. The day’s schedule is found below.
We hope that you’ll be able to join us this year, whether it’s for the entire day or just for a few hours.
