For about nine months now, around the clock, water has been pumped out of the ground near my Bradford home as a former farm/wetland is "de-watered" in preparation for a water treatment plant and a housing development.
I suppose the people pumping out this water know where it is going and why this is necessary, but to me it seems a huge waste of a precious resource.
In my humble opinion, this is a misuse of the land and the water.
It is also an embarrassment - there are people in the world who will never have in a year the amount of water that comes out of this pipe in five minutes.
How did this property, with its wealth of water, even get approved for development?
There is lots of land in Bradford that is not wetland, and does not require the de-watering of a precious aquifer.
If anyone has any answers or real justification, I would be happy to hear about it. My email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
