The Marsh Mash is the 4th longest marathon canoe race in Ontario and takes place on the North Canal in Bradford.
On Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Westside Community Church (formerly Springdale Community Church) 1466 5th Side Road, Bradford, the 40th Marsh Mash takes place. Avid canoeists and kayakkers, racers, future Olympians are in the water by 9 a.m. for a warm-up. The main race which is a World Qualifier is a 22 kms race and starts at 10 a.m. by 10:30 a.m. we are all racing towards the Hwy #9 area.
Next year the Canal will be open all the way around and we hope to make a complete circuit next year.
Approximately 100 paddlers from as far as Ottawa, Sarnia, Parry Sound and Toronto and as close as Bradford are expected to attend this event. This event is also sanctioned by OMCKRA (Ontario Marathon Canoe Kayak Racking Association).
It is put together with the support of the Town of Bradford, and Iain Craig (Event organizer), who has devoted over 30 years of his life putting this race on the map.
There are a number of categories and race lengths, from novice to official qualifier.
