Seniors and Youth Benefit from Mentorship Project
Georgina, ON— Peter Van Loan, MP York-Simcoe joined the Board of Georgina Trades Training Inc. (GTTI) in announcing federal government funding for a Community mentorship project. It will to connect youth with experienced trainers through mentorship to share skills and knowledge.
“Our government recognizes the importance of initiatives like Georgina Trades Training Inc. to communities like Georgina,” said Peter Van Loan, MP York-Simcoe. “This unique mentorship project will see real results in connecting youth and seniors, teaching the different generations skills and life lessons.”
Georgina Trades and Training will receive $20,000 for the new Community Project. Skills training to boost the economy is a major government priority. Last month Peter Van loan kicked off national consultations on another Federal Government training initiative - the Canada Job - right here in Georgina at the Trades Training Institute.
"While Canada leads the major economies in job creation with over one million net new jobs since the downturn, more remains to be done", said Van Loan. "Job creation and economic growth is the main focus for Canadians and our government. Today's training announcement helps us advance that job creation priority."
