MiTek Canada, Inc. is building new, larger facility on Bradford West Gwillimbury's Highway 400 employment lands.
MiTek Canada, a global supplier of state-of-the-art engineered products and services for the building components industry, has announced plans for a new, larger manufacturing facility in Bradford West Gwillimbury (BWG) on a 15-acre parcel in the newly-approved Strathallen subdivision near Highway 400 and County Road 88.
“MiTek Canada has been a tremendous corporate client for many years in Bradford West Gwillimbury, and I am pleased to see they are reinvesting in our Town through this expansion,” said Town of BWG Mayor Rob Keffer. “Our Council is committed to a prosperous Bradford West Gwillimbury. Attracting and retaining world-class industries such as MiTek is critical to building and maintaining a strong business base, providing well-paying local jobs and attracting new businesses to our community.”
MiTek has submitted an application for Site Plan Approval for the construction of an approximately 240,000 square-foot facility, on a 15-acre parcel of land in the Strathallen development area. Once approved for construction, the new facility will combine MiTek’s BWG and Thornhill, Ontario operations, and accommodate additional manufacturing processes.
“Bradford West Gwillimbury is an ideal location to manufacture and transport our world-class products,” said Mike Sandbrook, President of MiTek Canada. “The advantages of new employment lands along Highway 400, along with a strong local labour pool, made it an easy decision to expand our operations and locate our new manufacturing facility here.”
MiTek employs approximately 140 people at its existing facility in Bradford West Gwillimbury, which is also MiTek Canada’s corporate headquarters. The new facility will house this staff and approximately 60 others from new hires and the Thornhill operations, for a total of 200 jobs.
MiTek Inc. is a Berkshire Hathaway company, the Omaha, Nebraska-based holding company whose CEO and majority shareholder is billionaire investor Warren Buffet.
Strathallen is the first group to have investment-ready lands available in BWG’s new Highway 400 Employment Lands.
MiTek’s new facility, located on Strathallen property, is the first development within BWG’s Highway 400 Employment Lands.
BWG’s Employment Lands comprise 900 developable acres along Highway 400, zoned for manufacturing, warehousing and retail operations. Full municipal servicing to all of these properties will be complete by mid-2018.
