Orillia —  The Mariposa Folk Foundation and Lakehead University are offering three days of creative classes in advance of this year’s Mariposa Folk Festival.

At Mariposa ArtsU, participants can learn unique skills in participatory, hands-on classes in photography, painting, singing, guitar theory, print-making, puppetry, sound recording, and creative movement.

All classes will be held on campus at Lakehead University in Orillia, July 6, 7 and 8.

Innovative professional photographer Peter Stranks will assist participants as they use their own digital cameras to engage with inventive photographic techniques.

Local artist Juliana Hawke will introduce her students to the amazing arts of printmaking and water colour painting, and singer-songwriter paul court (Blood and Fire: the Donnelly Project) will equip aspiring songwriters with the fundamental tools of his trade.

These are just three of the eight instructors lined up to facilitate fantastic and fun learning opportunities.

Classes are two and a half hours in length and cost $35 per half day class, $60 per full-day class. Participants attending more than one class get $5 off per class.
