January 24, 2014 – Newmarket, ON – Today, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking the beginning of its 63rd year of excellence in integrated watershed management.
In addition to celebrating 2013 accomplishments, the order of business called for the election of the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. The board re-elected current Chair, Durham Regional Councillor and Deputy Mayor (Township of Brock), Debbie Bath to the position and Mayor (Town of Aurora), Geoffrey Dawe as Vice Chair.
“Knowing I have the Board of Director’s continued support is such an incredible vote-of-confidence,” said Regional Councillor/Deputy Mayor Bath. “Having the opportunity to represent the Board as the Chair in the latter part of 2013 provided a wonderful first-hand account of what an outstanding organization LSRCA is and the opportunity to continue to lead this fine organization is such an honour. I’m really looking forward to working together with staff and the board to meet the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in 2014.”
“The enthusiasm and passion that is demonstrated by the Board of Directors and the staff at LSRCA has been especially evident to me over the past three years I’ve sat on the Board. To now have an even larger role in supporting and advancing the work of LSRCA as Vice Chair, gives me tremendous satisfaction,” said Mayor Dawe.
The LSRCA Board of Directors holds its Annual General Meeting at the end of January each year: closing business for the prior year, electing the Chair and Vice Chair positions, and opening business for the year ahead.
LSRCA also issued its Annual Report highlighting significant accomplishments of 2013. The report can be found online at www.LSRCA.on.ca.
