Stand Up! Orillia Against Bullying’s full week of events in celebration of National Bullying Awareness week is off to a flying start!
Nov. 20, 2013 - Over 50 participants came out to our celebrate diversity cultural potluck dinner on Monday night, where much delicious food was enjoyed. Special thanks to Dav Langstroth for the incredible drumming circle and smudging ceremony for everyone...the participation was enormous and enthusiastic by our participants of all ages!
Tuesday night the fun continued with a special Open Mic at The Brownstone Cafe. Special thanks to our youth performers who wowed us with their stage presence and exuberance and the Brownstone regular opn mic performers who supported us in this fun and special night of music making. Also thanks to Stand Up! committee member Dan Bazinet who hosted!
Wednesday is our drama workshop on bullying themes in Romeo and Juliet, facilitated by Bridget Gole.
Moving forward, Thursday we have a special support and discussion group on bullying in our LGBT community with a special guest speaker.
Friday is our look at our year in review and what Stand Up! has accomplished, as well as a chance for participants to video their thoughts on bullying and why they are involved in our events!
Saturday from 1 to 4 pm we will host the inaugural meeting of the Bullying Support Group for Families, at Couchiching Community Initiative HQ in downtown Orillia, above the Rexall Pharmacy.
There will be special facilitators, activities for all ages, refreshments and a chance to be part of the beginning of something very important in Orillia. Everyone of all ages is invited to come participate!
