Orillia - Lakehead University-Orillia is opening a Research Centre for Sustainable Communities. The focus of the Centre is on interdisciplinary research that supports sustainable communities.
Approved by Lakehead University Senate last March, the Centre intends to provide an unconventional approach to research with an emphasis on collaboration and will be a catalyst for research funding and community partnerships.
“The Centre is based on three core areas of research,” explains Centre Director Dr. Nanda Kanavillil. “We will be promoting research in the areas of social justice, political economy and environmental sustainability.”
The scheduled launch on Tuesday, November 18 was delayed by a snow storm. The new launch date will be announced.
