It’s that sweet time of year as maple syrup begins to flow across the Lake Simcoe area.
And Ontario’s Lake Country is again presenting its popular Tap into Maple experience. Continuing until the end of April, Tap into Maple is an opportunity to visit the region’s maple syrup producers, enjoy special maple-themed festivals and events, and enjoy delicious local maple-inspired cuisine.
One of the best ways to enjoy Tap into Maple is to explore the specially-designed self-driving route that takes visitors to many unique attractions. The “all things maple” route has 14 stops, ranging from local maple syrup producers with tours and tastings, attractions with special family activities, restaurants and cafes with maple-inspired goodies, and shops featuring local syrup and homemade goods.
“This is the fifth year of Tap into Maple and each year the participating producers and businesses get more creative with their products and maple-inspired activities,” explains Sven Sloeserwij, Marketing Coordinator with Ontario’s Lake Country. “There’s something for everyone – you can get outside and tour a sugar bush, enjoy local maple cuisine, learn about cooking with maple products, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, and, of course, bring home sweet treats to enjoy all year long!”
In addition to the driving routes, there are also special events to enjoy, such as the Sweetwater Harvest Festival at Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, a “Very Important Bunny” breakfast at Hewitts’ Farm Market & Bakery, and March Break specials at Shaw’s Sugar Bush and the Orillia Museum of Art & History.
Many of the area’s restaurants and resorts are offering special maple-inspired menus, and if you’re looking for an overnight, Casino Rama Resort has put together a Tap into Maple Getaway for Two.
It’s easy to plan your Tap into Maple outing. Just visit TapIntoMaple.com for information on all of the participating producers, businesses and activities. You can download the Tap into Maple brochure, complete with route map and coupons for discounts and free products.
