    12th Traditional Georgian College Pow Wow

    The annual event, organized by students, staff and community members, is a celebration of traditional culture and tradition. It takes place at the Barrie Campus Athletic Centre. A time for people to participate, learn, celebrate and share culture and heritage through drumming, singing, dancing, feasting, sharing and laughter. Many talented dancers, drum groups and amazing craft vendors who will be selling their handcrafted wares.

  • Sept. 19, 2014 – Laura Price from Minesing in Simcoe County has been crowned 2014-2015 Queen of the Furrow at the 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo. Price is a graduate of the University of Guelph, and she continues her connection with agriculture, working for Cargill in Alliston.

  • Across the Lake Simcoe Watershed, four incumbent mayors lost their seats in the Oct. 27 municipal elections. In Georgina, Margaret Quirk is the new mayor, beating long-time mayor Rob Grossi, whose most recent term was marked by environmental concerns.
